FOCUS

THE FOCUS PARENT PARTICIPATION PROGRAM

Once a child has been abused, or even passively neglected, his or her life is forever altered.  At FOCUS, our philosophy is to shift the emphasis to preventing these traumas before they occur...preventing the traumas of homelessness and exposure to domestic violence.

At FOCUS, we encourage parents to enroll for a full 6-8 months.  Since at FOCUS, we provide one on one attention for each child and work together with parents to support their children's developmental needs, parents appear very comfortable leaving their children at the FOCUS center.  Knowing their child is being loved and well cared for, parents can venture out each day with strength and courage to overcome the complicated issues that precipitated their homelessness.

The parent support program at FOCUS belongs to and is designed by the parents enrolled in the FOCUS program.  We all work together sharing information and creating a FOCUS community of caring and support.  The FOCUS Staff helps parents access the resources that they need based upon each parent's personal goals.  Parents identify and build on their special talents.  All the parents enrolled at FOCUS find a way to participate, using these talents in some way, and become a working member of the program.  As relationships are formed, parents support one another, too.
