What is Reverse Speech and What Can Be Done With It?

Imagine the possibilities.   You are visiting some friends and they mention that the previous owner of their home was a “gold bug”.  The neighbors figured he’d buried a lot of gold before he died suddenly.  No one was able to find it, even with metal detectors.  When you suggest that you could find the hidden gold your friend says if you can do that he’ll give you half.  So you record on tape a lively and lengthy discussion about were the gold is buried.   You have the tape analyzed for speech reversals (played backwards and phrases and sentences carefully noted).  One of the reversals found says under north rainspout!  So you dig under the north rainspout and you find 100 ounces of gold.  Wow, very nice pay for an afternoon’s work.

Imagine that you are offered a choice of several investments, some of which could be extremely lucrative or they could be con jobs.  Reverse Speech could separate out the good ones from the cons.  Imagine a prospector and a Reverse Speech analyst working together.  They discuss various large regions for finding some mineral.  When they get an indication that a particular region is best, they discuss various parts of that region to find the part of that region and then to discuss exactly where to dig.  This "prospecting" technique of going from the broad areas down to the fine could be used in all kinds of research.  Areas like chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, education etc.  Researchers could find out what works in days or weeks instead of years.

Imagine that you’re talking with an acquaintance and he’s talking about the problems his company is having with research.  You suggest that he look into Reverse Speech.  Months later he contacts you and says he has some of his company’s stock as a gift for you.  That tip that you gave him about Reverse Speech worked very well.  Their research zoomed forward with the help of one of David Oates students.

What is Reverse Speech?  Reverse Speech is another form of human communication that is automatically generated by the brain when we speak.  It occurs backwards in speech and can be heard when human speech is recorded and played backwards.  It operates in unison with forward speech and is complementary to it (the forwards and reverse relate to each other).  It is a communication process that comes from the deeper areas of the human mind and is received and understood on an unconscious level.  The sounds of these communications, called reversals, tend to be a little different than normal speech and thus a person needs "ear training" to hear them readily.

Metaphors.

Some reversals speak in normal language, which is English for those of us that speak English.  A large portion of reversals speak in metaphor and archetype.  David Oates discovered Reverse Speech back in 1983.  Since then he's put a huge amount of time and effort into researching Reverse Speech.  He's compiled a dictionary of about 1000 of these metaphors.  One of the most important metaphors is:  WOLF (Structural) prime central metaphor; see Shewolf, Werewolf; the part of personality that is the hunter & protector of the Psyche; prime motivator behind behavior; the state of the Wolf metaphor directly influences success and control of life; ones ability to be self motivated and firm.
